Reporting to Greenbelt Baptist Church’s Executive Pastor, the Teaching Pastor will be responsible for preaching between 38 and 42 sermons a year.

We are seeking an energetic preacher who communicates with passion to a congregation containing people in various stages of their faith journey: from absolutely no church background to people who have followed Jesus for decades. Obviously not every message needs to target every audience, but during the course of the year’s sermon series these perspectives must be taken into account.

The Teaching Pastor will have clearly identified gifts of preaching and teaching, which will have been affirmed by others on multiple occasions. They will demonstrate a substantial depth of Biblical knowledge, acquired in ways including formal theological training, and an ability to communicate this knowledge in plain language that challenges people to know, live and share their faith.

The Teaching Pastor will be a member of both the staff team and Elders Board, and will help establish ministry plans and spiritual development goals for the congregation. The Teaching Pastor will be responsible for creating a teaching plan for the year in consultation with the Executive Pastor which will help move our congregation towards these goals.

The Teaching Pastor will also have pastoral care responsibilities, including visitation, counseling, and conducting marriages and funerals. The Teaching Pastor must demonstrate a strong, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, and he must also enjoy working as part of a team, be personable, and possess a sense of humor.

The Teaching Pastor must be in full agreement with the FEB statement of faith, which can be found at www.fellowship.ca.

The Teaching Pastor must possess the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

If you submit your application via regular mail, please include six (6) copies of your application. Please also provide six (6) CD copies of two (2) different sermon audio samples.

Audio samples are preferred, but not absolutely required for your application to be considered.
